- Description:
DAMAGE BY PARASITES - It is essential during the packing to eliminate all fruit visibly damaged by parasites, otherwise these parasites develop and cause damage during transport. However, in certain cases and during preliminary stages of the attack, it is almost impossible to detect damage by parasites. For instance tomatoes which are apparently in good condition at the time they are shipped might on arrival at destination be found damaged by "black eye" (or "alternaria") and oranges affected by the ravages of the Mediterranean fly (Ceratite).
