SUMAC
- Description: A very fine, free-running powder obtained from the leaves and pods of a Sicilian tree, used in the tanning and dyeing industries. Packed in bags and liable to loss in weight on account of the dusty nature of the commodity. It is affected by humidity and any wetting, whether by salt or fresh water, will reduce the tanning properties, and cause caking, which makes the powder difficult to handle.
