SOYA BEANS - An oil-bearing bean grown chiefly in Manchuria and China. Although not liable to spontaneous combustion, this commodity heats sufficiently to blacken the bags in which it is shipped. If the beans are shipped in a damp condition they may heat, sweat and ferment. The normal moisture content is high, and occasionally this may be evidenced by a musty smell and slightly soggy beans.
Beans are the seeds of the annual bean plants belonging to the legume family (Leguminosae) and are transported in dry form.
