ASPHALT
- Description: A petroleum product obtained in natural condition from dried-up oil beds, or as a distillation byproduct. There is a considerable range in melting points, some very low, and this factor should be considered in relation to the type of packing to be used, especially when a shipment has to pass through the tropics. Liable to leakage from barrels or drums, in which event consideration expense may be incurred in discharge from vessel and any subsequent handling. See also FLUXPHALT. See also IMDG Code & US CFR.
