COMI Certification
AIMU Certificate of Ocean Marine Insurance (COMI) was designed by the American Institute of Marine Underwriters Education Committee to allow marine professionals to demonstrate a level of expertise and ensure a level of credentials as well as dedication to professional development.
CRITERIA
To earn a “Certificate of Ocean Marine Insurance”, a student must complete any five of the “introductory” classes offered by AIMU. The introductory classes include:
Introduction to Ocean Marine Insurance
Introduction to Cargo Insurance
Introduction to Protection and Indemnity Insurance
Introduction to Hull Insurance
Introduction to Yacht Insurance
Yacht Insurance Fundamentals: Underwriting & Claims
Introduction to Bumbershoot Insurance
Introduction to Marine General Liability Insurance
Introduction to Ocean Marine Claims Examiner
Introduction to Offshore Energy
Reinsurance for the Experienced Marine Insurance Professional
Introduction to Recreational Marine: Underwriting and Claims
TESTING COMPONENT
To earn the Certificate of Ocean Marine Insurance, students will be required to pass a test for each of the five areas of study with a completion score of 75% or higher. The test will be administered electronically.
CERTIFICATE
The COMI is not a designation or certification. It is a certificate that reflects a level of expertise and may bring notable credentials to a marine professional’s resume.
