Join us on August 15, 2019 for the AIMU Field Trip to the Brooklyn Navy Yard. We will meet at Wall Street/Pier 11 Landing and travel aboard a NYC ferry to the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Our group will be greeted by tour guide Andrew Gustafson. We are also fortunate to be joined by John Walker, Braemar Marine as well as Brooklyn Navy Yard staff to board an air-conditioned bus as there is much to see at this 300-acre site. The group will hop on and off the bus at various sites for a closer look and behind the scenes tour of inner workings of the Navy Yard. AIMU has tailored a tour of all three graving docks, the NYC EDC new ferry service & maintenance facility as well as to see some ships in dock. Learn about New York’s naval and maritime history. Visit a 19th-century dry dock that's still used today for ship repair. Check out the country’s first multi-story ‘green’ industrial building and first wind- and solar-powered street lamps.
